I believe you all know the book of R. Matheson ‘’What dreams may come” and if not, then you’ve probably seen the movie with Robbie Williams in the role of Chris Neilson. Although I loved the book my purpose of writing this article is not to analyze it, but to make you think one thing: What would you sacrifice for the love of your life?
In the book the writer wants to show us that when you want or believe in something very deeply then nothing can stop you. Or at least that’s the message I get from the book because even if the main character of the book dies in a car accident, he cannot imagine living in paradise without the love of his life, and when he finds out that his wife killed herself because she couldn’t live without him what does he do? He leaves paradise for her. He decides to go down to hell in order to find her and be with her for the eternity. He sacrificed the paradise for her.
Although I want to believe that this happens in real life I can’t. I believe that people get distracted by their daily routine, their needs and how to cope with them and the last thing they give their attention to is to make relationships. I believe they forget one thing: they forget that everyone needs love. After all we owe it to ourselves. Being in a good relationship with someone we trust and share our life with him/her is probably one of our basic goals. Being in a relationship means to put your Ego aside and act like a real couple who share their problems and try to solve them together. And that’s what this book is about. It is about being one with the person you love.
At the end of the day no one wants to be alone. Let’s just skip that part and imagine that people do invest in relationships, my question is: what are they willing to do in order to be with the person they love?
