Sometimes I feel like I’m going insane when I scroll through Facebook.
Seeing the endless status updates of friends getting married or having babies is tiresome. I mean, I’m happy for them, and it’s great that they’ve found love, but they don’t have to shove it in your face 24/7.
It appears as if everybody’s main goal is to find a significant other that you can spend the rest of your life with. It’s like our whole existence is dedicated to finding that one person that will be your everything.
But what about the people who are single now? Are their lives meaningless until they find that special someone?
Of course not! But unfortunately, that’s what society is teaching us.
Because society shoves this down our throats, so many people I know rush into relationships and marriages. Because they’re terrified of being single.
They just settle.
Yes, these can be good marriages but this isn’t the point.
It leads to so many women not valuing themselves and their own self-worth.
If you’re single, be proud of who you are and know that you are surviving, maybe even thriving, all by yourself. It takes courage, independence and a belief in your self-worth.
Pay attention to all that you have achieved and all that you are.
Trust me, if you do this, not only will you realize how great your life is, but when you do choose to enter a relationship, it will be with someone you deserve.
And for the women who have been married and maybe it didn’t work out, I’m sorry. You have every right to cry and be sad. But you need to know that being single isn’t a curse. You might learn to love yourself and your life.
