“The Hero Complex” or better known as “The Hero Syndrome” is a phenomenon affecting people who seek heroism or recognition, usually by creating a desperate situation which they can resolve.
In this little piece of writing I will not focus to the Hero Syndrome as the phenomenon that it is proven to be but I will try to be a little more “creative” and try to analyze some of the aspects that force people to “have” this syndrome.
First of all we all have to understand that to be a Hero does not only requires for someone to have guts as we usually say, but also requires some true and proven facts to occur and not made up. If we all could make up a situation of bravery etc., then we could all be heroes and then what would the point of real heroes’ existence would be?
Of course the above question is pretty much rhetorical. And that is because in the 21st century with the World Wide Web liberty and the public networks power, anyone can be a hero. So why not to make up just a small situation and then have the love and the admiration of all the other people in your public network’s friend list?
This is vanity my friends. And vanity is the greatest aspect that forces people to “have” this syndrome/complex of the “great hero”. Vanity is one of the seven deadly sins also, but I will try to write another article soon about the 7 deadly sins.
Although there are many more aspects that can claim a position in my list, I will just keep my list with this only aspect. Vanity. And why is that? This is so simple. Nowadays with all this Public Network activity, and with all those people that do not have or do not wish to have a real life, vanity has taken a serious place amongst our lives.
Whenever you look, you will recognize people full of vanity. You will realize easy enough vanity in their eyes, in their words, in their acts. Vanity everywhere.
Is there any cure? Is there any medicine? The answer for these two questions is the same. Yes there is a cure but also a medicine too, and no there is no cure and no medicine at all. It depends on the person. The cure in my opinion is one and only. Live your everyday as if it was your last one. Live, love, learn, stay focused and above all, get a life… the medicine is simple enough. Sanitarium and pills for mental illness. But wait. Is it proper enough to force close people into sanitariums? This is another topic that I will probably write in the near future.
As a conclusion I will like to just say a little word. A small phrase that I use to say to my own self when I am a little more depressed or melancholic. Live, love and dream and then everything will be better. Vanity is not a solution for anything. Get rid of it when it is soon enough. Live Love and Dream…
And do not forget to write back to me, comment, share your thoughts and send me your messages… Take care. Ta!
