There is this common conception among people across the world that a husband must be taller than his wife. But does height matter more than the person? Is being short bad? Or does being taller automatically makes you good? No, but even then reportedly, most women prefer taller men.
Lizz Adams started this debate of dating short vs. tall men when she made a post depicting her husband (5’5”). In the picture, she is seen to be much taller than her husband.
Lizz and her husband expressed their opinion saying that tall men are bad people.
Many Twitter users posted their pictures with their shorter better-half. Some people also pointed out that height has nothing to do with one’s character.
Lizz Adam’s tweet got over 27,000 retweets and above 190k likes. However, many of them were not happy with Lizz’s post.
She told in an interview that people misunderstood her. She also said that she wasn’t expecting the post to become as popular as it did. Lizz said that due to her being a comedian, her sentences are sometimes exaggerated. She said that she was just trying to clear up the conventional biases towards taller guys.
Lizz observed that this bias is only in relation to heterosexual couples and that homosexual people are saved from it. She added that it is a form of toxic masculinity.
She apologized for offending people who are tall but nice. She said that the tweet was written in a casual mood and she is thankful to those who pointed out her mistake.
Even scientists seem to acknowledge the fact that there is a bias towards the taller guys. They are seen as physically strong and this perception comes to us from other animals through evolution. Humans used to elect taller men as leaders as it ensured their life in ancient times.
Here are some other reactions to Lizz’s tweet.
