A study concludes that the male sperm counts are falling rapidly in western men – that includes North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. However, the sperm count of Asian, African and South American men is perfectly normal. No decline was seen.
Dr. Hagai Levine conducted this experiment at Hadassah-Hebrew University and Professor Shanna Swan, Mount Sinai’s Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health in 2015. Over 7500 sperm counts were analyzed and logged down. Sperm count was taken in varying conditions of different men. The result, as told before, was disastrous. From 1973 to 2011 the sperm count has declined by 59.3 percent.
Why is Sperm Count Plummeting in the West?
The terrifying news is that the scientists cannot find out why the sperm count has declined by such a large magnitude which means that we cannot treat it. it puts human existence in danger! Dr. Levin’s research paper says that she found no evidence of leveling off in recent year. Although he claims that his conclusions can help us prevent this phenomenon. Following are some conclusions of his study that the men in western countries can use as tips to increase their sperm count.
1.Stay away from Pesticides
Pesticides drastically affect your sperm count.
2.Avoid plastics
Phthalates are “endocrine disruptors” which means they affect our hormones. In men’s case, they can affect sperms too. We generally find it in plastics. Hence, it is advised to men to avoid heating food in plastic materials because the phthalates are released on heating. Also, use plastic products whose recycling code is neither 3 nor 7. They tend to contain more phthalates than others.
3.You age, so does the sperms.
After a certain age (commonly after mid 30) your sperm’s quality deteriorates.
4.Infertility
Infertile men have highest chances of suffering from heart diseases and diabetes.
5.Less TV
6.Eat healthily and exercise
Men who exercise daily or regularly have 73% higher sperm count than lazy men.
