Actress Shannen Doherty, mainly for her role as Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210 was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015. Her co-workers had problems with her and often made statements about her unprofessional behaviour. That didn’t stop her from living her dream. She appeared in many TV series, small clips and movies.
Cancer is spreading
After knowing she had breast cancer, she underwent a surgery that removed one of her breasts. But unfortunately, that didn’t work. Initially the doctors thought that her condition was improving. The recent check-up told the doctors that the cancer has spread from her breasts to the lymph nodes and some cancer cells even succeeded in travelling through her body. She was undergoing chemo and had moved on radiation, that doesn’t seem to help much.
Supporting cancer patients
Shannen has been a great support to the people who have been diagnosed with cancer. She keeps posting videos and photos of her experiences as a cancer patient. She posts her chemo sessions, her medications and even the changes that her body undergoes. Her fans have supported her a lot in this journey too.
Being optimistic
She has been strong throughout her battle. She saw her cancer as an optimist too. Once she stated that cancer has helped her in bringing out her real self. She has always covered herself, but cancer has a given her a chance to be herself. Maybe she is more vulnerable now, but she is happy to be close to herself. But the recent report from her doctor has left her weak.
Unsure future
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight she said, “Everything else is manageable. Pain is manageable, you know living without a breast is manageable, it’s the worry of your future and how your future is going to affect the people you love.”
The Scary part
She is frightened and even said that she is afraid to go to sleep at night. Her current condition is so bad that she needs her husband’s help to even getting to the bathroom. She’s mostly bed-ridden and has lost weight.
