The parents of 43 missing students kidnapped in September 2014, and their sympathizers clashed with members of the Mexican military and riot police as they took to the streets of Iguala on Monday. The protesters demanded that the Mexican military return the students’ bodies.
The protesters destroyed the entrance of the 27th Infantry Battalion HQ, breaking barricades with the help of a truck and clashing with riot police while throwing stones and other objects. The demonstrators are reported to have advanced around 15 meters (49 feet) inside the army base before they were forced back. They also drove a beer truck to the entrance and threw bottles at servicemen and riot police.
