It is not as easy as you may think. Propably every parent has felt this kind of terror with their first-born, when they feel that every little thing they do can kill this tiny creature that looks so fragile. For this reason, Finland has found a way to make the baby’s survival a tiny bit easier for inexperienced parents. That is, a baby box.
Pregnant people are given a choice in Finland, between being given a baby box or a stipend of a not unimportant amount. 95% of them actually choose the box! And it is quite literaly, a box: a cardboard box, that people can put their baby in!

This started in Finland of 1930’s, whose extremely big infant mortality rate made the government go into this peculiar solution. They gave the low-income families that could not afford a crib, a box that had the same usage. This simple measure did a great work in dropping the mortality rate extremely quickly.
