A Ukrainian scientist – Dr. Elena Bodnar – has innovated and created a unique face mask. It’s called an Emergency Bra. This particular face mask is designed to provide protection against biological hazards, chemical explosions and other types of violent attacks and unpredictable events.
EMERGENCY BRA – A UNIQUE FACE MASK
The Emergency Bra – face mask is called so because of its appearance. It looks like a brassiere but isn’t an ordinary bra – though you can use it like one. You can remove this Emergency Bra or EBra during an emergency, separate its cups and place the same on your nose and mouth with the help of the bra’s extended straps over the head. You can breathe through it.
The EBra is designed in an innovative manner and can be converted into a pair of protective gear for your face. Two people can use a single Emergency Bra.
IG NOBEL PUBLIC HEALTH PRIZE
Dr. Elena Bodnar – for her innovation and invention – won the IG Nobel Public Health Prize in 2009. This award is a spoof or similar to the Nobel Prize. And it provides an acknowledgment to at least ten scientific achievements – especially ones that provide a good laugh and a food for thought to people.
Dr. Elena Bodnar – currently based in Chicago – as per the Associated Press Reports, acquired the idea of this brassiere oriented face mask in the year 1986 – after the Chernobyl nuclear chaos.
Dr. Bodnar further explains that giving instant and easy accessibility to readily available and cheap gas masks to people in the first hours of a disaster, will help in saving them against explosives and toxic gasses, like, Iodine-131.
This different bra mask is usable during various disasters – from storms, fires, swine flu outbreak, dust storms to nuclear chaos. She concludes by saying that everyone should prepare for chaos and disasters and since women wear bras all the time, it can help in combating such situations.
