There are no boundaries which can contain human beliefs and faith. Thereby, there are quite a few religions in the world, and for the followers of each one of them, their religion is the one true faith.
But this process of new religion formations is not static, even in the modern times, new religions and sects amongst the old ones keep popping up as faith changes shape. In this line, we are now hearing of a probable new religion, whose deity of choice is no paranormal being, but rather artificial intelligence.
Way Of The Future
The founder of this new faith or rather its first devotee is a former Engineer with Google, so it comes as no surprise that his religious beliefs would take a slightly scientific/technological bent. Anthony Levandowski who has worked with technological giant such as Google, is now a millionaire in his own right. But his life has a new direction now, and he focuses all his time, energy and considerable amount of money in propagating this new religion. He refers to this Divination of the technological milestone as the Way Of The Future.
The religion was founded back in 2015. The moral and ethical duties of its followers, the new(er) testaments so to speak are simple- to promote and further develop the Godhead which is drawn on Artificial Intelligence. Once they have achieved that, they seek to worship this Godhead in a bid to understand it better, and thereby helping the society with better technology.
Even though this religion is yet not registered anywhere in the US yet, and therefore is technically not official (unlike some other Bizarre religions which are officially recognized by the Government). But there has been a tremendous interest in this doctrine and the commandments it promotes.
Worshiping Artificial Intelligence
However, interestingly, this new religion based on technology has not found any followers in the most eminent minds of our Era. Several Scientists and Technology experts have been warning humanity for a long time about the possible repercussions of Artificial Intelligence and no wonder they are not thrilled about deifying it and worshipping what they think is dangerous.
Logically speaking, if we are able to create the perfect artificially intelligent brain, there would be no differences in the capabilities of this brain and a biological brain. It would be at part with the human brain and in fact might exceed it very quickly and be several steps ahead of us.
Who will then control such a mastermind who is way more intelligent than everybody else on the planet, not bound by the laws and punishment which governs the rest of us? It will spell doom for us all if it has a will of its own and decides to go rogue. Artificial Intelligence then seems to be a very volatile achievement which lies precariously on the balance of the future of the world as we know it.
