Bob Ross is well known for a television show that is considered the most popular art show in the history of television. His curly hair and his calming painting spread to his viewers a feeling of calmness and relaxation. He always painted mountains, clouds and nice pieces of scenery “in 26 television minutes”, as his website states.
Bob died in 1995 but it is still easy to watch his show on some TV channels and, for sure, on Youtube. The show’s name was “The Joy of Painting” and it showed exactly that. If you ever feel in need of some endorphin, just type the name on the youtube search bar, sit back and enjoy.
Only recently, one of Ross‘s shows came up again, appearing on the first page of Reddit, on the first of September. The fourth episode of the second season was quite a special one and anyone who watches it, understands its newly acquired attention.
There, Ross informs the viewer that the particular episode won’t be as colorful as the last. He then explains: one day, he was approached by a man saying that he would never be able to paint because he was colorblind.
Bob, then, devoted an episode to his man, in his effort to prove that truly everybody can paint. In that episode, he didn’t use any colors but gray, painting his usual clouds in a way that a color blind person could recognised.
This episode was the most optimistic and strong message about Bob‘s way of thinking: Arts are for everyone, as long as they truly want it.
