Now, Stephen Wiltshire is one of Britain’s most well known autistic artists, whose skills are just breathtaking. He has proved that he is able to draw a whole cityscape after taking a short look at it. The details he remembers exceed the mere buildings and roads and get even to the point of drawing the right number of windows on a building.
Artistic talent
He didn’t say his first word until he was five, but he could draw magnificently since he was able to hold a pencil. His passion for drawing parts of London made his sister start taking him to a friend’s house that was on the 14th floor. From up there, he could draw the view with excellent detail, without even looking back at the city.
Now, his commissions have a huge waiting list, and his videos of drawing can shock even the most disbelieving of viewers. Wiltshire’s story shows that neurodiversity is something we need to respect, as each person can prove to have a talent that others wouldn’t expect.
