Bacteria, virus, and fungi can cause pneumonia and before they discover antibiotics it was a highly fatal disease.
Even today, there are 3 million cases of pneumonia every year and about 5% of these cases are fatal.
It is the 6th most likely way to die throughout the world.
Antibiotics as treatment
Doctors usually prescribe penicillin, amoxicillin, augmentin and macrolide antibiotics to patients.
Penicillin was earlier the go-to drug but over the years, the bacteria have become resistant to it. So now it is only administered if cultures show that it affects the bacteria.
Oregano Oil
In the East, oregano oil was prescribed as a treatment for respiratory infections, UTIs, inflammation and so on, for many hundreds of years.
Research has proved that it has strong antibacterial properties as well as high mineral content.
It is quite effective for us and we can use it along with antibiotics in cases of infection caused by bacteria.
It can also help you stave off the worst of a cold or a sore throat if used as soon as you start feeling symptoms.
Just mix three drops of it into a glass of orange juice every day and in about a week, you’ll feel as right as rain.
Baking Soda
Another favored cure is baking soda which helps neutralize acids and break down proteins.
Your body’s pH level should ideally be 7 and baking soda helps keep this balance.
This is essential because if you manage to maintain an alkaline pH between 7.3 to 7.4, you will be able to resist many diseases.
Raising it can also help as it then becomes basic, an environment that virus and bacteria which live in an acidic environment cannot survive in.
If you feel like you have a respiratory infection, an alkalizing mixture of sodium bicarbonate and potassium bicarbonate will help cure it.
In more severe cases of asthma or pneumonia, using the nebulizer with water and a couple drops of liquid sodium bicarbonate, a few times each day will help.
You can even use it to reduce the pain of sunburns if dissolved in warm water and a paste made with chilled water can soothe a bee sting.
