New scientific discovery reveals DNA manipulation can create mutations due to ignorance of gene control mechanism. There was a time when science dictated that the world was flat, and that if you reached the edge, you would simply fall off. What they couldn’t see, they proposed to be non-existent. Well, we’ve come a long way since then, but the arrogance remains. In the biotech sector, what they don’t see simply does not exist, and what they claim does not exist may be responsible for a myriad of diseases we are experiencing today.
A research team led by Dr. John Stamatoyannopoulos, University of Washington associate professor of genome sciences and of medicine, made the discovery. The findings are reported in the Dec. 13 issue of Science.

Since the genetic code was deciphered in the 1960s, scientists have assumed that it was used exclusively to write information about proteins. UW scientists were stunned to discover that genomes use the genetic code to write two separate languages. One describes how proteins are made, and the other instructs the cell on how genes are controlled. One language is written on top of the other, which is why the second language remained hidden for so long.
“For over 40 years we have assumed that DNA changes affecting the genetic code solely impact how proteins are made,” said Stamatoyannopoulos. “Now we know that this basic assumption about reading the human genome missed half of the picture. These new findings highlight that DNA is an incredibly powerful information storage device, which nature has fully exploited in unexpected ways.”
“The fact that the genetic code can simultaneously write two kinds of information means that many DNA changes that appear to alter protein sequences may actually cause disease by disrupting gene control programs or even both mechanisms simultaneously,” said Stamatoyannopoulos.

Biotech proponents routinely denigrate opponents as flatworlders, Luddites, and against science. Let me ask a question. If Monsanto and the biotech industry are working on the outdated theory that “DNA changes affecting the genetic code solely impact how proteins are made,” and completely ignore half of the picture and newly released scientific findings that “the genetic code can simultaneously write two kinds of information, [which] means that many DNA changes that appear to alter protein sequences may actually cause disease by disrupting gene control programs or even both mechanisms simultaneously,” what does that say about the pseudo-science that says genetically engineered organisms (GMOs) are perfectly safe in our food supply?
Promoting this specious ideology displays a total disregard of the whole scientific process, and the ramifications of DNA manipulation, which make Monsanto and the biotech industry the ultimate irresponsible flatworlders.
Professor Joe Cummins has this to say regarding this new information and mutations in the resulting crops produced by criminally irresponsible DNA manipulation:
The paper should put a nail in the coffin of GM crops. My last article in ISIS pointed out that all of the commercial GM crops contain bacterial genes that have to have the code altered so that they produce in plants. However, when the crops were approved by USDA they did the safety tests on the gene product proteins made in bacteria not the crops because the proteins were easier to purify from bacterial cultures. My article pointed out that the GM crop transgenes had what is called synonymous mutations so that the amino acids chains were the same in bacteria and crop but the mutations made the proteins fold differently in the transgenic proteins and that kind of defect was known to have caused defects in humans and animals. The science paper is thrilling because it points out that the synonymous mutations should cause the GM proteins to be different from the bacterial proteins thus the regulators never required adequate safety testing of the GM crops.
You can’t have it both ways. You can’t accuse those who are against the irresponsible use of a newly emerging technology of being against science, when you yourself ignore the inconvenient scientific facts that show that what you are doing is hazardous. You can’t simply pick and choose what you are going to believe because it just happens to be convenient and fill the coffers of your ever-expanding bank account. What you choose to ignore CAN hurt us.
The only acceptable response to this new information is to stop the genetic engineering of our food supply now. Completely, and without exception.
